About Us

Changing the way we look at food.

Our Mission

Folks need farmers three times per day. We need them from the clothing we wear to the beer we drink. We are proud to grow the healthiest food for the people and environment in our community. It’s our mission to grow without exploitation, whether that means the environment, the employees, or the worker owners. We aim to teach and grow WITH the community, providing an opportunity for people to be more involved in where and how their food is grown.

“To cherish what remains of the Earth and to foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival.”

— Wendell Berry, American environmental activist, novelist, and farmer

Our Farming Practices:

  • Certified Organic through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

  • 40 acres of diversified vegetable production.

  • Compost and local animal manure applied to fields every fall.

  • Crop rotation each year to make sure we follow heavy soil feeders with light soil feeders to make sure the soil recovers from the needy crops. For example, we follow cherry tomatoes (heavy feeders) with Lettuce (light feeders).

  • Care for our employees with a livable wage and bonuses when we do well.

  • Reduced tillage practices to care for soil health and keep carbon in the soil that the plants have sequestered.

  • Work hard to connect the community to their food with tours, field trips, presentations, etc.

  • No use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.

  • Year round production to get local food in our community’s bellies 365 days per year.

  • Proudly run by a group of passionate, young farmers.

  • Accepts folks from all backgrounds and groups.
